A charming late 19th-century pine washstand with decorative tiled splashback and original marble top. The raised back features a shaped gallery, inset mirror with attractive foxing, and a row of embossed cream and brown ceramic tiles with stylised foliate motifs. Below, the washstand offers two drawers over a central cupboard, flanked by turned legs and a shaped pot shelf. The piece is nicely proportioned, with a lovely warmth to the pine.
Condition:
Structurally solid and recently tightened. Minor historical damage includes an old split to one of the side brackets and a repair to the under-shelf, both of which have been sympathetically restored. Foxing to the original mirror plate adds to the antique charm. Some surface staining to the marble top as shown, in line with age and use.
