Large Pine Chapel Bookcase

A handsome and generously sized antique pine bookcase, likely originally from a chapel vestry, retaining its original character and charm. Constructed from solid pine with a warm, honeyed patina and panelled back, this piece features five fixed shelves and a subtle gothic influence with cut-out quatrefoils to the sides and plinth.

• Width at top (cornice): 128cm
• Width at base: 121cm
• Depth: 29cm
• Height: 176cm

The shelves are fixed, offering the following internal clearances:

• Top to 1st shelf: 25.5cm
• 1st to 2nd shelf: 28cm
• 2nd to 3rd shelf: 29cm
• 3rd to 4th shelf: 30.5cm
• 4th shelf to base: 32cm

Condition:

Structurally sound and solid. There is a saw mark to the base on one side, along with minor signs of old woodworm to the plinth top and backboards — this has long since been treated as a precaution. Some wear and minor losses to the top moulding and foot, in line with age and use.
