A 19th-century country Windsor-style rocking chair in solid ash with a shaped elm seat. It features a high back with turned spindles and a decorative central splat, all rising into a curved crest rail. The scroll arms are supported by turned uprights, and the chair stands on classic turned legs with double stretchers and traditional curved rockers. A lovely, honest piece with a nice warm tone.
Condition
Structurally sound and comfortable, with wear and surface marks consistent with age and use. There is an old glued repair where the crest rail joins the upright (pictured). The arms show surface wear, including minor scuffs and scratches. The finish retains a mellow sheen and an inviting patina overall.
