A late Georgian, Regency period bow-front chest of drawers in richly figured mahogany. The chest is fitted with two short over two long drawers, each with later oval brass plate handles. The pressed backplates are decorated with a domed temple of six columns enclosing a central figure on a plinth — a sympathetic neoclassical design fully in keeping with the period. The bow-front form, splayed feet, and superbly figured flame mahogany make this a fine and elegant example of early 19th-century cabinetmaking.
Condition Report
In good antique condition, with minor age-related wear as expected. Small losses to the front edge. The top shows staining and surface marks, including a small characterful historic burn mark (photographed). Brass handles are later replacements but sit comfortably within the style of the piece. Structurally sound with a rich colour and beautiful grain pattern throughout.
